Birchel Floyd Jr 1943-2023 Birchel Floyd Jr. of Phoenix Arizona passed away on May 20, 2023 at the age of 79 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in London, Kentucky on August 10, 1943 his parents were Birchel Oscar Floyd and Tabitha Muhaska Floyd.

He is survived by his two sisters, Margaret Lorene Floyd Lowe of Clearwater, Florida and Opal Louise White of Morristown, Indiana and his brother Dale B. Floyd of Bedford, Virginia. He has 3 daughters Tonya Lynn Whidden of Beaumont, California and Tracy Danielle Gebhart of Seymour, Tennessee and Tina Lea Macias of Winter Haven, Florida. He has 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as an uncle. He always looked forward to visiting with his family. He shared often of his fond memories with each of them. He had many lasting memories.

He is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie Floyd of 32 years and their extended family a daughter Joanne Kay Reutter of Phoenix, Arizona and son Edward Dwayne Hamaker Jr. of Maricopa, Arizona and Douglas Eugene Hamaker of Phoenix, Arizona. Bonnie and Floyd have 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren of Phoenix, Arizona.

He was employed and retired from the National Elevator Industry as a mechanic for over thirty years retiring with a Certificate of Honor and a Gold Honorary card on the 7th day of March 2003.

He did commercial and home insulation for several years. He had his own handyman business and worked for many years for his HOA. He also enjoyed working at his neighborhood Ace hardware store for over 12 years.

Some fun facts and memories of Floyd was that he enjoyed playing Santa Clause for Santa Clause and Company at private parties, malls as well as his Monday night Bible study group and for several different nursing homes as well as his local elevator union and Ace Hardware.

He enjoyed several of his birthdays at Peter Piper Pizza with the manager Mike making his own personal Pizza with his current age on it out of pepperonis. His favorite singer was Elvis Presly who he had seen in person a few times, once with his daughter Tonya. He also had four birthday parties with the singer Freddy G. Performing his Tribute shows of Elvis.

Some of Floyds favorite outings were going to Indiana & Kentucky to see his mom and family, and he loved going to the Blue Bird restaurant with his family and longtime High School friends. Another fond memory In Indiana is Derby Days and riding on the float with many of his close friends and attending a Hog Roast birthday party, something he looked forward to on his trips home each year.

He also loved eating Coconut shrimp at Outback Steak House and going to the casino, his favorite machine was Johnny cash. Some of his favorite things were his hats, he was a man of many hats. He liked his tools and his truck.

But most of all Floyd loved spending time with his family and friends. He touched the lives of many, and always made a friend of those he touched.

Please join in the celebration of Floyds life along with his family and friends on Sunday June 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Birchel Home located at 4430 N. 28th Street Phoenix, Arizona 85016. Food and refreshments will be provided. We ask that you come as you are and share your wonderful memories of Floyd. This celebration will take place outdoors. Please dress comfortably. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and concern during this most difficult time.
