Byron went to be with the Lord at the age of 90, one day before his 91st birthday. Son of William and Blanche King, he was raised in North Hollywood, CA. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn King. His 3 children are: son, Thomas Edward King of Boise, ID., husband of Carolyn King, (daughter-in-law), son, Robert Bruce King of Seattle, WA. husband of Sharon King, (daughter-in-law), and daughter Sara King Sinnott of Walnut Creek, CA. wife of James Sinnott, (son-in-law). His four grandchildren are: Ryan Sinnott, Kayle Sinnott and Tyler Sinnott of Walnut Creek, and Sethroy King, of Seattle. He was predeceased by his brother William King of Petaluma, CA. He was an Eagle Scout. He entered U.C.L.A. in 1940. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration and was commissioned an Ensign, USNR in 1943. In World War II he served on a destroyer escort in the central Pacific and earned battle stars for participating in the Palau Islands and Okinawa campaigns. He was employed for 37 years by Pacific Telephone, managing business office operations, among other assignments. He was President of The Board of Deacons and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Blvd., in Walnut Creek, on Sat. Dec. 28th, at 3:00pm. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The Destroyer Escort Historical Museum (an organization promoting patriotism), PO Box 1926, Albany, NY, or to the donor's favorite charity.
