GALLANT CLAUDIA
68, died Saturday, April 21, 2013, at Concordia Health Center in Cabot, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family. She was the Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs at Sewickley Academy from 2006 to the present. Formerly, she was the executive director of The Global Connections Foundation, Severna Park, Maryland, and Vice President for Professional Development, National Association of Independent Schools, Washington, DC. She was the loving mother of two sons, Michael J. Gallant (Carla Dirlikov) and Jonathan G. Gallant (Risako Ota). She is survived by sisters, Cynthia Chadwick Linkas (Thomas Linkas) and Cathryn M. Chadwick; sister-in-law, Sara M. Grasty (Tom Grasty); many beloved nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. She was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island and graduated from Emmanuel College, Boston and University of Michigan with advanced degrees in English Language and Literature, and Russian Literature. Claudia was a voracious reader, an accomplished pianist and a lover of dogs (Sophie and Tasha). Above all, she was a consummate educator with a global perspective on the world, travel and culture. She nurtured children and teachers her entire life. There will be a private viewing on Friday, April 26. A public celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, April 28, 4-6, at Sewickley Academy at the Hanson Library. The family sends heartfelt thanks to the devoted professionals at Concordia at Cabot. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Claudia Gallant Global Studies Fund.
