Darrall Matthews Obituary
Darrall was born January 19, 1936, in Onslow County; son of the late George Atlas and Mary Kellum Matthews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home of Swansboro.
Darrall taught electronics at Jacksonville High School and was a charter boat Captain. He also served as an Onslow County Constable. After his retirement he worked at the Hem of His Garment in Swansboro.
He is survived by wife, Lois Morris Matthews of the home; daughters, Kathey Fairchild (Mel) of Cedar Point, Darlene Tracy (Steve) of Hubert, Lisa Reid (Steve) of Hubert, and Mary Behan (David) of Hubert; son, Steve Matthews (Linda) of Cedar Point; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Matthews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hem of His Garment, P.O. Box 597, Swansboro, NC 28584 or to the Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Morehead City NC 28557.

Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home of Swansboro.

Electronics was one of my favorite classes - you were my instructor in '72-'73 and you always made it interesting. But you told us we had to learn the theory first - that was the hardest thing to wrap my young brain around, since I always wanted to dive into the practical applications. Really enjoyed when you threw your rubber ball across the room if someone was dozing or otherwise not paying attention - terrific aim. You will be missed, Mr. M ...
