DAVID E. CHURCHILL

FORT FAIRFIELD - David E. Churchill, 67, passed away Monday morning July 28, 2014 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born Jan. 21, 1947 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Edward S. and Pauline (Giggey) Churchill.

He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School Class of 1967 and went on to serve his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 earning the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He had been employed in the potato farming industry for many years.

In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by one brother, Samuel Churchill; two sisters, Alma Mae and Marilyn Churchill; one brother-in-law, Lee H. Brown. He is survived by three sons, Wesley A. Churchill and his wife Lisa of Kissimmee, FL, David E. Churchill of Brewer, Shayne M. Hathaway of Presque Isle; two daughters, Stefanie R. Mejia and her husband Orlando of Theodore, AL, Ashley Dion of Fort Fairfield; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Harold and Verssie Churchill of Lewiston, Paul and Peggy Churchill of Holden, Danny and Jane Churchill of Fort Fairfield, Timothy and Vicki Churchill of Hermon, Kevin and Lori Churchill of Fort Fairfield; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Roberta and Elmer Watson, Diane Brown, all of Fort Fairfield, Donna and Rev. David Smith of Dayton, OH, Patricia and Dale Turner of Aroostook, New Brunswick, Carolyn and Thomas Channell, Lori and Henry Maynard, all of Bangor; two grandchildren, Tenisha Hayes of Bangor and Hailey Bois of Presque Isle; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 12 noon-1 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Church, 37 Currier Road, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
