David Jack Johansen, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family in his Billings, home on July 12, 2017. David was born on July 31, 1937, in Helena.
David graduated school from Sydney High School in 1956, earning the honor of being a Little All-American from his merits in basketball. David married Roberta Diaz in 1956, and joined the Air Force the following year. After his service, they migrated to Billings where he began his career as a manager of the General Motors Parts Department.
David and Roberta were blessed with five children; their son David (Sheree), son Ken (Betty), daughter Theresa (Mike) Candelaria, son Kyle, and son Jay (Jennifer). David is survived by his wife, all five children, 14 grandchildren: Josh, Eric, Ryan, Jered, LaVette, Jess, Konnor, Jason, Mike, Kailey, Karter, Kaitlyn, Kellen, Klae; 14 great-grandchildren, his sister Oriana (Nelson) Knudsen from Newman Lake, Washington, and his sister-in-law Dorothy (Bob) Halcro from Great Falls. David was proceeded in death by his mother Marie, his father Orris, and his in-laws Jess and Louise Diaz.
David Johansen was an admirable and honorable man, who lives on in our hearts and is deeply loved and will be dearly missed. There will be no service held, per his request.
