David McINTYRE Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal from Oct. 5 to Oct. 6, 2011.
McINTYRE, David Alexander
March 7, 1920 - October 3, 2011
After a brief stay in the Devon hospital, Dave passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, October 3rd at the age of 91. He will be lovingly remembered by his four children: David (Edie), Judy (Robert), Alan (Pat), and Robin, as well as his eight grandchildren: Adam (Laura), Lindsay, Ainsley (Jason), Natalie (Mike), Russell, Michael, Kyle and Matthew. He is survived by siblings Gordon, Hugh and Jean and was predeceased by his loving wife, Dee, and siblings, Bill and Belle. He was loved and respected by many.
Born in Winnipeg, Dave worked in construction as a young man, and served in the Air Force as a mechanic. After marrying the love of his life, Dee, he moved west and eventually created D.A. McIntyre Construction, which is now run by his youngest son, Alan. Dave and Dee raised their family in Edmonton and then had many happy years together in Devon.
A devoted family man, Dave was well known for his hand-crafted diamond willow furniture, his love for the game of bridge, his tremendous strength of character, his mischievous smile and the twinkle in his eyes. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Discovery Place for the kind attention Dave received during his three years there.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Devon United Church, 2 Saint Clair Street, Devon, Alberta on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow at Discovery Place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We were saddened to hear about Dave passing on.We will always remember him for his sense of fairness and his great smile. My whole family were past friends of Daves from the early Square M Construction days including my late father Ed Nagel and brother Jim Nagel. We are unable to attend his memorial service but we will be thinking of him and praying for him and his family.

We are sorry to hear about Dave's passing. We had the opportunity to see him when visiting our father Ron McDonald at Discovery Place. Dave always had a smile and a humorous comment. I know my father will miss him dearly, they always shared a laugh whenever they were together.
