David Mitchell Obituary

Published by Willows Journal on Dec. 25, 2012.
David Mitchell, 73 of Willows, passed away on 12/22/2012 from a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Muriel Mitchell. He is survived by his wife Barbara, of 51 years, son, Alan (Michele) of Woodland, daughter, Linda (Greg) Kendrick of Folsom and four wonderful grandchildren; Matthew Kendrick, Mackenzie, Jackson and Mason Mitchell. He is also survived by his two brothers, Jerry (Carol) and Kelly (Mary) Mitchell and families.

David worked for the WUSD as Head Groundsman and before that for Glenn Co. Mosquito Abatement. He took great pride in ensuring that the school grounds and sporting fields were well groomed. He also enjoyed tending to his own yard and garden.

David enjoyed attending both his children's and grandchildren's many sporting and musical events. He loved to travel to the coast, especially Ft. Bragg, CA, and loved the outdoors. He always found a way to enjoy a good meal and loved to laugh and joke with everyone he met.

Please join David's family in a celebration of his life on December 29, 2012 at 11 am at the Church of the Nazarene, 216 North Culver Street, Willows.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the Willows Church of the Nazarene or the American Cancer Society.

He was our gentle giant in the game of life. From one out law to another I thank his family for sharing his life with us. He will be missed so much at the next and all the Woods family reunions.
He was a star player no matter what the game he was in Family life , The service to our country we thank him for that.
What a great game player in life he was with a quiet and gentle voice always ready to play the game no matter what. He was always ready to help when needed.
Well life seems to go on no matter what and the Woods team of out laws we were called will have another member missing. Thanks for sharing the game of life with us.
Glen and I were so glad to share the last few weeks of you life. So glad you are at peace. We thank your family again for sharing your life with us. Mary Ellen & Glen

We may have lost a beautiful soul here on earth, but Heaven gained one of the best, most spontaneous and genuine angels of them all. Love you uncle David...you will be loved always and sorely missed. Spread those beautiful wings and fly!

The picture is how I will remember him, happy and loving. He was such a good son and son-in-law to both your grandmothers. Always willing to go out of his way to help them. He will certainly be missed by all of us.
Remembering him with much love, Steve & Millie (oh, he called me Mildred)

David was a wonderful man, he will be missed by all who knew him. I remember seeing him at the abalone dinner in
Fort Bragg a few years ago and seeing his big smile and hearty "Hello". He never forgot a friend.
