David ROSENTHAL Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald on Jan. 21, 2017.
ROSENTHAL, David
June 10, 1918 - January 20, 2017
David Rosenthal was our cherished father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle and friend who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on January 20, 2017 at the age of 98. David is survived by his children, Jayda and Harry Rosenthal; granddaughter, Tala Rosenthal; son-in-law, Jim Sorenson; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews and many younger friends who will miss him dearly. David will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humour, a cheerful energetic man, a man who was generous and helpful whenever the opportunity arose. David served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a POW in Stalag III during the Great Escape. He valued his many life long friendships from growing up in Calgary, his years of service with the Royal Canadian Air Force and those he met along his journey of life. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to his exceptional care companion Irene Moreno, who had him active and happily enjoying life until the end. We also give thanks to the caring staff at the Beverly Centre. Graveside Service will be held at the Erlton Cemetery (Erlton Street & 30th Avenue S.W.) on Monday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. with a gathering to follow at the family home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

Your dad was a wonderful person. I remember fondly the times he spent with us and my dad Benny "Bagel" (as your dad would call him) Martin. I thoroughly enjoyed his humour and his positive view on life. My heartfelt condolences to your entire family. David Martin
