David WIENS Obituary
September 19, 1954 – Regina
December 17, 2017 – Calgary
David could no longer take the pain of depression from bi-polar disease and, in his despair, took his life. He leaves an aching hole in the hearts of his family including his mother Dorothy Wiens (Floyd Sanderson), and his children Jennifer Rowsell (Tracy), Kelsey Merkley (Ryan) and Matthew Wiens (Amy Koehn). He was preceded in death by his father Walter Wiens. He is also survived by his sisters Cathy Foht (Melvin) and Dr. Sharon Wiens (Steve Wilson) and his much loved grandchildren: Megan, Kaitlin and Ben. All of us will miss his charm, his font of brilliant ideas, his generous heart and his ever engaging presence in our lives. Please consider a donation to the Mustard Seed or a worthy organization to support better mental health care in this province. Please join the family January 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. for a celebratory luncheon at Silver Springs Golf & Country Club, 1600 Varsity Estates Drive NW. In living memory of David, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Dave was such a kind & generous man - I enjoyed the time I spent with him & Viki, especially his fun wonderful costume at my 65th birthday in early November. My thoughts & prayers are with you in this difficult time.
