Debbie Horner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 30, 2023.
Debbie Bumgardner Horner, aged 65, passed away on June 23, 2023, in Burlington, North Carolina. She was born in Alamance County and was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her passing left a void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Debbie was a devoted member of Lamb's Chapel Church in Burlington and found solace in her faith. She led a life of kindness, compassion, and selflessness, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Debbie's infectious smile, warm personality, and joyous laughter endeared her to everyone she met.

Debbie loved animals and provided a loving home to many pets over the years. Her constant companion was her beloved Yorkie Terrier, Chase.

She will be remembered as a source of unwavering support, love, and kindness to her family and friends. Surviving Debbie are her mother, Mildred Clarissa Bumgardner (Duck), brothers Max Keith (Karen) and Michael Allen (Kay) Bumgardner, aunts Patsy Hall Johnson and Wilma Hall Phillips, nieces Marisa Lynn Bumgardner, Haley Morgan Lopez (Frankie), and Sydney Marie Bumgardner, and nephew Matthew Kole Bumgardner. Additionally, a stepdaughter Amanda Horner Farrar which she loved as her own along with her four grandsons Will Farrar (Brooke), Sam Farrar, John Farrar, and Matthew Farrar and one great- granddaughter Madeline Bell Elizabeth Farrar.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Gene Bumgardner, and her sister, Teresa Denise Bumgardner.

Debbie has a group of friends who refer to themselves as the YaYa's. They have formed a sisterhood and are fierce defenders and protectors of each other. They were there with unwavering support during her illness up to the end. We should all be so fortunate to have friends such as these in our lives.

A traditional celebration of Debbie's life will be held at Cornerstone Church in Saxapahaw, NC, on July 8th. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am, followed by the service at noon. The service will be a time to remember Debbie's life, reflect on her legacy, and find comfort in the memories she left behind. Debbie's unwavering faith, her love for her family and friends, and her selflessness and kindness towards others will be her enduring legacy.

Debbie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit and the memories she created will live on forever. She will be remembered as a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire generations to come.

I´ve known Debbie for over 45 years and we became close friends playing softball and taking trips together. She would do anything to help out a friend in need. Deb will be missed so much as she was the life of the party. Our beach trips will never be the same without our friend, leader and organizer of the YaYa sisters. Rest In Peace now that you are home and pain free.
Love you like a sister.

Debbie was my friend at City Lake Baptist Church, we worked together with the youth. Debbie did so many things for them. Debbie did so much for our church helping anyone she could. She helped me during my battle with breast cancer and I tried to help her in her battle. I love her and will miss her. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for the family. Her friend Frances Harmon

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I did not know Debbie well. But she was the life of the party & appeared to enjoy life to the fullest.
