Dixie Graham Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 16, 2023.
Dixie June Argo Graham was born October 23, 1950 to Clelvie and Willie Mae Teague Argo in Norman, OK. She passed peacefully on March 1, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Dixie spent her childhood in Norman. She told many fond stories of friends and cousins while growing up in town and "on the farm". Dixie was a graduate of Norman High.

She went to OBU where she met the love her life, Larry Graham of Lawton. They both had a strong faith in the Lord and wanted to serve in the church. After Larry graduated from OBU, they were married. After seminary, together they served many churches in Oklahoma and Texas. Dixie enjoyed working with people, babies to senior citizens, she just wanted to be involved. During this time they adopted two children.

Eventually, Larry and Dixie settled down back in Norman where Dixie ran a home daycare. After raising her children, she graduated from UCO. She taught at Moore schools until she retired in 2012. Teaching was her true passion, she loved talking about her kids and spending endless hours working to provide them with a good education.

After retirement, Dixie spent her time with family, going to lunch/brunch with friends, going on cruises around the world, reading and camping.

Dixie was survived by her daughter Becky, son-in-law Tim, and granddaughter Dylan of Norman, OK; son Steven and family of Shawnee, OK; brother Ron and sister-in-law Liz of Alva, OK; endless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

Dixie was proceeded in death by her parents Clelvie and Willie Mae Argo; her husband Larry Graham; brother Bob Argo and wife Voncille; nephews Todd and Trent Argo; and many other loved ones that we truly miss.

I met Dixie at Santa Fe Elementary in Moore, OK. I served as a paraprofessional in her classroom. We became good friends, and I learned so much from her. I came to know her husband, Larry who was such a special man. I soon learned how much their faith in God played a major role in their lives. I will miss Dixie so much...but I know that she is with Larry again and they are no longer in pain. They are together in Paradise.

Quite simply:
I believe Dixie Graham was one of the finest educators I have known.
I was pleased to call Dixie my friend.
I was proud to have Dixie as a colleague and mentor.
I was grateful that Dixie crossed my life's path.

My heart goes out to everyone who loved her. She always made me feel like part of the family, "no matter what", as she would say.
