Edward Sharrow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 2 to Jul. 3, 2011.
Edward Francis Sharrow Algonac Edward Francis Sharrow, 77 years of Algonac, MI, passed away June 30, 2011. Ed Sharrow was born on December 20, 1933, in Algonac, MI. He attended school in Algonac, Houghton Lake and Marine City, and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1953. He attended Port Huron Junior College where he met his wife of 53 years, Pat, who he married in June 1954. Ed was a mechanic and worked at several locations before opening his own business. Ed and Pat owned and operated Sharrow's Service on St. Clair River Dr., Algonac, before moving to 5400 Pte. Tremble Rd., Pearl Beach in 1973. The Sharrow's sold their business after 47 years in July 2006, due to age and declining health. Ed loved animals, the St. Clair River and the Great Lakes, the out-of-doors and Michigan. As a child he had a pet crow as well as a raccoon, and his dog "Skip". He rescued many stray cats and dogs that wandered into his business. He was a loyal "Muskrat" and booster of the Algonac-Clay Township schools and community, and served as a volunteer in Clay Township government. He loved to talk of politics, local lore and family history. A favorite topic was his ancestor Pierre Charron who settled in Quebec in the 1600's and Antoine Charron (Sharrow) who settled in Algonac in the 1850's. Ed was also descended from several of the first French families who established Detroit. Ed was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Susan (Krantz) Posey and Frank and Anna (Paquette) Sharrow; his parents Millard and Violet (Posey); his wife Patricia (Pat), and his son Mark. He is survived by his sons, Stephen, Michael (Pamela) and James, his daughters, Susanne Driscoll, Diane Sharrow (Richard Clarizio) and Laura Ann Bianchi (Arthur Thomas, II); his grandchildren, Luke, Joseph, Frank, Zachary, Kaycie and Caitlyn Sharrow, Arthur and Bruce Bianchi, and Christopher and Nicholas Clarizio. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday July 7th at Gilbert Funeral Home, 1422 Michigan St., Algonac. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday July 8th at St. Catherine Cemetery on Stone Rd. In lieu of flowers, the Family suggests memorials be made to Our Lady of the River Parish, the Algonac-Clay Historical Museum, or the Community Pride and Heritage Museum in Marine City.

Sharrow Family,
There wasn't a better person than your father. Think often of your father and mother and the fun we had enjoyed snowmobiling with them. Many good memories. So sorry for your loss.
