I know I am months late but I was trying to contact Miss Libby to tell her about the passing of my mom and brother and then I see this. I'm so heart broken as she was so much apart of helping my family discover we had EDS. She told my mom about her struggles and they use to keep in contact. I'm heart broken. My prayers for her family. I understand your pain. Well Mom and Miss Libby you are both in Heaven laughing together.

I just learned about Libby's passing and I am so saddened. When we moved to the United States from Italy 10 years ago with my daughter, Erica, and Libby was one of the first people we met. She was so very helpful to both us but, in particular, for Erica. She was her primary mentor for her Senior high school project on Marfan's syndrome. I can attribute Libby's kind support and brilliant mentoring as an important component of my daughter's ongoing success. As a pediatric cardiology nurse at the time, she was also a most enlightening mentor for me. I am thankful and feel privileged to have known her. Unfortunately, I lost touch with her over the past 3-4 years. I knew she was a shining star from the get-go..it would've been better if she could've kept on shining down here instead of in Heaven yet who am I to think that. She truly exuded intelligence and LOVE!

NOOOOO! Please tell me this is not real. Ernie, Nick, et. al., I am at a loss for words. I hadn't been in touch w/Libby in a while, but thought of her all the time. She was my friend. She was my nurse... the best nurse EVER - and then some. I can't believe I'm saying was. I speak for the Krupman family, and Joe when I say we all thought she hung the moon for me.... she will be missed. Andrea

I offer my sympathies over her passing to Libby's family, the extended Sparks and Henson families, to her friends and co-workers, and the patients (and families) whose lives she brightened.
I came to know Ernie through St. John's church years before his Somerford class transferred to London H.S.. Start the day in Home Room- Hi, Ernie!; End the day with Band & See you tomorrow, Ernie!
Out of the blue, one day a curious Sophomore waited by my locker to ask about Ernie and, by the way, did he have a girlfriend?
Boy, was Ernie's life about to change? Naw, She's a class ahead of us
Eight years later, they married on a late summer day and were well on their way toward their careers.
That day by the Freshmen Lockers was my preview of Libby's demeanor; Soft Spoken, Direct, and without Pretense. Libby gave decades of service to friends and strangers alike, mirrored by Ernie's dedication to the community and, in time, young Nicholas' choice to also reach out to others in need.
Libby's consistent outlook was recognized by her peers; medical investigators/caregivers who search for clues to a terrible inflammatory condition. Dr. Dietz's anecdote of Libby ends in a hallway; personally satisfying as our friendship also began in a hallway. Hers was a remarkable, focused life without waste. But then, She's a class ahead of us and she's waving us on-

Nick and Ernie,
I am so sorry for your loss. Libby was such a wonderful person and so incredibly supportive of the patients that she worked with, including me. She sat with my wife and sons for six hours throughout my aortic root surgery and was extremely helpful to me in making the decision to go forward with that surgery. We have lost an amazing and incredible person.

Ernie and Nick, Libby was literally our guardian angel on earth. We were a family with the inherited genetic defect she was instrumental in diagnosing with the genetics hospital in Texas. We first met her at OSU but she became a part of our family for life. My son didn't survive but we know he is proudly sharing her amazing care of us on earth with others in heaven. She was very proud of her son and husband. We felt as if we knew you both very well. She will be missed by so many but she left a legacy that touched so many lives. We will forever love and miss her, Patti, Penni, Chandra, Kylee, Brandon, and Trent

I am so heartbroken to hear of Libby's passing. I was a heart patient of hers at The Ohio State University Medical Center. I have many fond memories of Libby. She had a way of making you feel like you were family and not just another patient. She was passionate about her work and truly cared, not just about the health of her patients, but about what was going on in their lives as well. She was my biggest cheerleader and rejoiced with me when I became pregnant with my son and had a successful, healthy pregnancy. I am forever grateful for the personalized care and the positivity she brought to my life. Love and light to all who knew her. She will be missed by many.
