It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Father, Nonno, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Ernesto Leone after a brief but well fought battle with lung cancer. Ernesto was a kind and generous loving person. He always had a smile on his face and a fishing rod in his hand. Ernesto was born in Rende, Italy to a family of 10 kids. He had a tough upbringing. He had to drop out of school to work and take care of his younger sister. Ernesto did not let his tough upbringing break his charismatic spirit. It was his charismatic spirit that won over his beloved wife Raffelina "Maria". In 1959 they immigrated to Canada and made an amazing life in their adoptive home. Ernesto was dedicated and a hard worker for Lafarge Canada for 35 years. In his downtime Ernesto enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He was very proud of his garden and more than happy to share the fruits of his labour with family and friends. Ernesto is survived by his wife Raffelina "Maria"; his daughter Brunella; son Sam Leone; grandchildren, Talitha and Joshua Bryant and their father Allen Bryant; siblings Aldo (Emma) Leone, Maria (Ernesto) Infusino; Guiseppe (Esterina) Leone; brother-in-law Angelo Amato; sister-in-law Emilia Leone; and Zia Gilda as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy and Australia. He was predeceased by his parents, Michelina and Salvatore Leone and his stepmother Saveria Leone; brothers Rocco Infusino, Raffaele Infusino, Michele Infusino and Antonio Leone; sisters Michelina Amato and Francesca Iorio. The family would like to thank Paramed Homecare, Unit 32 at the Foothills Hospital and the Dulcina Hospice for their care, love and support.
