In Loving Memory

Ferdinand "Fred" Jaroslav Vitek, born on January 26, 1944, in Brno, Czechoslovakia, passed away on March 22, 2024, at the age of 80, surrounded by his family.

Fred, an Air Force veteran who served for two years and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War, dedicated his life to his family and his passions. A car enthusiast from a young age, he enjoyed being a flagman at Formula One races and collecting Car and Driver magazines. As a life long New Yorker, he was an avid hometown sports fan and attended as many games as he could, including but not limited to, the Yankees and the Rangers. Fred was an accountant who generously shared his knowledge with friends and family, especially during tax season. Known for his warm and gentle nature, Fred cherished spending time at the family lake house in the Catskills. He was known to give sage advice like, "Relax" and "Quit monkeying around" to anyone who would listen. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.

Fred, was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Vera and daughter in law, Sherrin. He is survived by his children, Colleen, Brendan, and Tara Anne, and his grandchildren, Sarah, William, Brendan, Alison (Devon), Casey, and Gabriel. He is also survived by his siblings, John (Martha) and George (Nancy), and many beloved nephews and nieces.

A mass to celebrate Fred's life will take place at St. Ann's Church in Shohola, PA, on the 22nd of June, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends and family at a luncheon following the service.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) or a local animal shelter, in memory of Fred, Archie, and Napoleon.

Fred's legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence.
