I was so shocked and saddened to hear about FX when I received a notice about our medical school reunion. How deeply I regret not attending reunions in previous years to share our laughter one more time. We used to sit together all the time during our first two years of medical school just to laugh together and get though the daily grind. We shared a love of our large families, a strong inclination toward the surgical sub-specialties, and a hatred of physics. I can only imagine how much his patients will miss him. My deepest sympathy to all his family.

I was stunned to learn of FX's death from the Yale Alumni Mag - thus these very belated condolences. But I couldn't let his death pass without a comment. FX was a wonderful friend to me at Yale - we had many, many good times - many laughs - and serious talks. Our lives parted ways after graduation, but he remains one of my fondest memories of my time at Yale. I am deeply sorry that his time was cut short - but he will never be forgotten by those of us lucky enough to have had him in our lives.

FX was a member of my medical school class and though I have not seen him since graduation, still recall well his friendliness, smile, and generosity, his picnic in Ligonier for our class being one of the highlights of the year.

My deepest sympathies to the Plunkett family. I worked with FX at St.Margaret's and remember what a great surgeon he was and how friendly and kind he was to everyone. He was truly a wonderful surgeon and more importantly a wonderful person. He will be missed.

I am deeply sadden to learn of the passing of FX. A flood of childhood memories come back when I hear of FX. We were such good friends throughout our growing up years. He certainly went on to accomplish much and helped so many people. He was so gifted in many many ways.
My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you in my dear Plunkett Family, my family across the street! I still love you all!

Kyle and I remember FX having a grand time barbecuing steaks at Holly and John's house in Morgantown for John's birthday celebrations. He was a great guy and great brother who stood at the helm of the amazing Plunkett brood and represented them well. I know how much everyone looked up to and admired FX. We all feel his loss. We hold the Plunkett family in our prayers. --Valerie and Kyle Morrison

FX was an integral part of a group of friends that lived, studied, partied, played endless bridge games and grew up together while at Yale.
It was an important time for all of us and for the country. The deep friendship and respect that each of us have for FX will ensure that he remains in our hearts and memories forever.
Our deepest condolences to the Plunkett family....John, Dean, Terry, Bob, Ray, Jim, Steve, Dickerman, Kirke and Michael

I met FX when I was a groom for the Rolling Rock Hunt in Ligonier- There was a horse that I cared for named Ticket- that became FX's Hunt Horse. I knew Ticket was in great hands- because FX was so kind and so thoughtful. FX always had a twinkle in his eye and always shared that a lovely mischievous smile with everyone he met-
I was shocked to hear of this news- the world is going to be a quieter place without FX-
FX's time was short here on Earth..
But like all truly magical moments- Sunrises, sunsets, shooting stars- they are fast and fleeting.. to only be seen if one is truly paying attention..
May FX's Passing remind ALL of us to grasp and hold each precious moment we have with each other. Angels be with FX's family and family of friends as you all remember and celebrate the passing of a BEAUTIFUL Shooting Star.

FX was truly a Renaissance man---one of the few I have ever known. He was a kind, caring man who will be remembered and missed by many. I do believe his memory leaves us all with a little of the magic that defined his approach to life. We are better for having known him. May God bless FX and all who grieve his loss.

I was sorry to hear about FX. My name is Anne Fegen. My aunt was Anne Cain. I remember meeting Mrs. Plunkett (Inez) and FX several times when I was younger. If I am not mistaken I believe my aunt was FX's godmother-but I could be wrong about that. My aunt died in 2006.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I was very lucky to have met FX when I began my career in managed care- he taught me so much.
I would like to share my favorite poem and hope it brings you peace
Do Not Stand At My Grave
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a 1,000 winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sun on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled light
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there; I did not die.
Anon.
