San Angelo - San Angelo - Frank Allen Rogge, 84, died July 10, 2024. He was born in Runge, Texas, on March 11, 1940, to Ed and Elsa Wunderlich Rogge and grew up on the family farm on the banks of the San Antonio River. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and attended Buesing, Nordheim and Runge High School. After graduation he volunteered in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany at the time of the Berlin Wall crises in 1961where he was on the front line along with his two brothers who were stationed in the area as well. He returned home and was employed in the oilfields in Karnes County after which he moved to San Angelo to work for St. John's Hospital, but his longtime employment was with MHMR from which he retired. He pursued studies to become a Mason in 1968 and achieved 32nd Degree. He had many interests and enjoyed restoring a 1967 Dodge D-100 sidestep pickup. He overcame many major health issues with persistence and optimism for a number of years before his departure.

Remembering when my Uncle Frank got married. He looked so Handsome and Happy. We celebrated for hours. Yellow and White were the colors of choice, Groom's cake was German Chocolate.

My first shared memory with Frank was when a neighbor rode up on a horse to tell our father that World War II had ended. He was never boring but full of enthusiasm, curiosity and practical pursuits. He treasured family and friends and philosophical discussions. He endured the last several years of serious medical issues but never lost hope that he could recover and return home to continue his projects.
