Franklin Eugene Harrod

MOULTRIE — Franklin Eugene Harrod, 70, of Old Adel Road, Moultrie, died on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Andy Cashwell and the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Norman, Terry Bennett, Larry Bennett, Ronald Norman, Richard Norman, J.J. McMillan and Jimmy Norman. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Eberhart, Johnny Eberhart, Eddie Roberts, Hunter Bennett and Wayne Norman.

Born July 18, 1937, in Colquitt County to the late John H. Harrod Jr. and Beauford Norman Harrod, he was a retired truck driver for Burlington Motor Carriers after 42 years of service. He received numerous awards for safe driving and was driver of the year in 1996. He was an Army veteran and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Harrod was preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie C. Harrod, and two wives, Velma Pollock Harrod and Billie Dean Dalton Harrod; and a stepgrandson Anthony Roberts.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Faulkner Eberhart Harrod of Moultrie; three stepsons, Charles Roberts of Moultrie, Russell Eberhart and Johnny Eberhart, both of Gettysburg, Pa.; four stepdaughters, Sue Wilson and husband Max and Debbie Norman and husband Wayne, all of Moultrie, Andrea Peterson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Joanette Eberhart of Fairfield, Pa.; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
