I was hanging on a monkey bar on the playground at Central Grade School in Fifth Grade. There was a small girl with curly black hair watching me. She had just moved to Seaside from the South with her Mom and sister. She was shy, quiet & alone and she always said I was the first friend she made in Seaside. That friendship would last for the next 68 years. Gayna blossomed, living across from Calvary Episcopal church where they became members. She had the most wonderful gift of looking at the "bright side of life". She could pull someone into her orbit as soon as she met them with her friendly way & sense of fun. She made others not to take themselves too seriously, just like her. I loved her, will miss her, and always, be thankful for her.

Of course we knew Gayna when we were in high school together, but our lives went different directions and we didn't see her again until we were traveling through Georgia in the late 1990's. We called her up and asked if she'd like to "meet up for lunch." She said "Hey, c'mon over; meet my husband and love on our dog." That was the beginning of the renewal of a wonderful friendship. She was always a joy to talk with and to visit. We hope there really is a heaven and that she is enjoying meeting up again with old friends and relatives (and dogs)! RIP

Beautiful Gayna. I first met Gayna when my brother Denny married Ky Weed and I was 15. Gayna was always so loving and caring and I'm so very sad to have heard of her passing. She will remain in my thoughts as one of the sweetest and most fun friends of Ky's to be around, she loved to laugh, and so did I. Sweet memories of Gayna. So very sorry for your loss, Harry. RIP Gayna. Marlis Johnston Snyder.
