George Finley was a duplicate bridge partner, a tournament golf partner, and for many years the best friend of my late father, Sam Conner, with George also being a pallbearer at my father's funeral. My dad always said George was one of the most brilliant lawyers he had ever known and spoke of George Finley's legal expertise in a case before the U.S. Supreme Court. I knew George, not well, but did have a round of golf with him once, just the two of us. He was a grand gentlemen.

My sincere condolences to his family.

Peggy and family,

I loved spending time listening to Mr. Finley and his stories when working at the law firm many moons ago. He was one of the good ones! I know he will be missed by all.

I met George Finley in 1970 at a San Angelo bridge tournament. Soon after we started playing team games together at many tournaments. He and Lester Dewey were the best. Every card they brought back was a winning card. George was a fierce competitor but was always a gentleman at the table. He had such quick wit. We laughed a lot. I will miss him forever. I loved my dear friend.

Peggy,

I'm so very sorry to hear about George (Mr. Finley, to me). I was just talking to my family about him last week. He always knew the right things to say to make me feel better, especially when I was unsure of my knowledge and abilities. The one thing he said that I will never forget is "You know, you're a lot smarter than a lot of people out there." I'll also never forget how mad he used to make me too, haha. But that never lasted long as he would come out of his office and say "so, um, are you still mad at me," with a little chuckle. I treasure the time we worked together and will miss him dearly as will so many others. We will keep you and your family in our prayers!
