MILLS, , GEORGE FRANKLIN AIA, 90 Born on July 5, 1915 in Kenefic, Oklahoma to James Walter and Bessie Ophelia Mills and passed away in Dallas, Texas on March 8, 2006 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. George grew up in Oklahoma and graduated with a BS degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He met his love and partner in life, Lucille Freeze, at church. They were married on May 26, 1936 and shared over 68 years together. George served his country during World War II in the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He moved his family to Dallas in 1945 where he worked for Thomas, Jamison and Merrill, Architects. For over 35 years George was involved in the design and expansion of the Baylor University Medical Center, beginning with his work on the Florence Nightingale Hospital and continuing with expansions of the Truitt, Hoblitzelle, Collins, and Jonsson Hospitals, the Barnett and Wadley Medical Towers, the Sammons Cancer Center and the Baylor College of Dentistry. George devoted his life to the service of the Lord in all that he did and was ever faithful to the church and to his family. He served as an Elder for the Trinity Heights Church of Christ and the Skillman Church of Christ, where he attended until his death. George's sparkling blue eyes and bright smile endeared him to everyone he met. George is preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Mills, his sister Jean Alexander, his beloved wife Lucille and his precious granddaughter, Julie Vineyard. His survived by his loving children, Judith Ann McIntosh; George Franklin Mills, Jr. and his wife, Monica; Joyce Anita Cleary and her husband, John Paul; grandchildren, Leann Pickle and her husband, Todd; Jeff McIntosh and his wife, Kim; Lisa Clements and her husband, Randy; David Mills and his wife, Jodi; Patrick Mills; and his great grandchildren, Nathan and Madelyn Pickle, Eric and Jordan McIntosh; and Reid and Evan Mills. Private graveside services will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest. A memorial service to celebrate George's life will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Skillman Library Fund, Skillman Church of Christ, 3014 Skillman Street, Dallas, TX 75206. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Signature Point and Vitas Hospice for making George's last days more comfortable. Uncle George was a special person...my daddy's younger brother...full of life and love. We'll miss him but rejoice that he has gone to be with his Lord and family members who have gone on before him.
