AGE: 77 BERKELEY
George Richmond, 77, of Holiday City, Berkeley, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, he lived in North Bergen, then Lake Hopatcong before moving to Berkeley seven years ago. George was a truck driver for Jones Motor Co., Jersey City as a member of the Teamsters Local 641, Jersey City for over 30 years. He had served as Shop Steward for Local 641 for over 20 years. Mr. Richmond was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, achieving the rank of Airman First Class. George was an avid outdoorsman, whose interests included deer hunting, fishing and skiing. He was a master handyman who could build and repair anything.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Ruth Brossat Richmond; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori Richmond and Stephen Zarillo of Toms River, and Susan and Timothy Carleton of Flanders.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. Entombment will take place at noon Friday at Flower Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum, North Bergen.
