Gerald Ledbetter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2025.
Gerald "Jerry" Ledbetter, 68, passed away on May 28, 2025, in South Acworth, New Hampshire. Born on November 24, 1956, in Marshall, Texas, Jerry lived a life defined by dedication to his craft, deep love for his family, and an unwavering sense of humor and wisdom.

A proud graduate of Marshall High School's Class of 1975, Jerry began a lifelong career as a carpenter, builder, and designer. His hands shaped more than just wood-they built homes, memories, and a legacy of craftsmanship that will endure for generations. Known for his honesty and determination, Jerry approached every project with care and precision. He was not only a skilled tradesman but also a natural leader who inspired those around him through his work ethic and integrity.

Jerry's life was deeply rooted in family. He shared many cherished years with his wife, Jennifer Ledbetter. Together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and love. He was the proud father of Shannon McFarland and her husband Kenny; Joe Hill; and stepdaughter Leah Bizos. Though he carried the sorrow of losing his daughter Shelley Ledbetter too soon, he continued to honor her memory through the love he gave to others.

He found immense joy in being surrounded by his grandchildren: Mason and Dylan McFarland; Calvin and Ada Sandberg. His great-granddaughter Teagan McFarland brought him special delight in recent years. Jerry's bond with his brothers Ricky, Terry, David, & Gregg Ledbetter remained strong throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother Norma Crooms and stepfather Merwyn Crooms, along with father, Scotty Ledbetter; brothers Terry, David, and Gregg Ledbetter; daughter Shelley Ledbetter; and nephews Michael, Jason, and Zachary Ledbetter.

Jerry had a deep appreciation for the outdoors- whether swimming on warm summer days or simply enjoying nature's peace. He loved cooking for those he cared about and found happiness in gathering with family and friends. His laid-back demeanor made everyone feel welcome; his humor brought smiles even during difficult times.

To know Jerry was to know someone who worked hard without complaint, led quietly but firmly by example, and loved fiercely without condition. He was proud-not boastful-but proud of the life he built and the people he held close.

May Gerald "Jerry" Ledbetter's memory bring comfort to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in every structure he built with care-and more importantly-in every heart he touched with kindness. A Memorial Service will be held on June 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Loon's 867 Lee Island Rd

Jerry Ledbetter was possibly the kindest hearted man I have ever had to pleasure to know. The beautiful home he built, along with Jenny Knoll (such a great gathering place to celebrate nature, life and friends) and all the memories that came with that was all his design. I will forever be grateful for your amazing hospitality, warm heart and lighthearted spirit. Thank you and I will miss you endlessly.

Jerry was one of the nicest men i had ever met. I used love hanging out with him on his front porch, Jenny Knoll or Knoll pond. We have some pretty interesting conversations, if it was me picking his brain on a construction project or B.B.Q., he always had a funny story to go along with it. And the love he showed his grandkids Calvin & Ada was awesome. You will be missed my friend.
