Gregory A Carver has gone to be with the Lord - July 22, 2023. He was 72, lived in
Rancho Mirage, California the past twenty years. He was born and lived most of his life in Washington State.
Greg grew up with his parents and two sisters in a small town owned by Pope and Talbot Mills, in Port Gamble WA. His father was the mill manger. As a child, Greg enjoyed running across the fallen logs, playing in the wooded area and finding the many hidden nooks in the town's public buildings. He enjoyed being an embarrassment to his sisters, Sandy and Sally, while causing much trouble as boys will do.
Upon graduating from North Kitsap High School, he moved to Seattle to study at the University of Washington. After a few quarters, it was clear the collegiate life was not for him. He left and began working in the mill and then in the shipyards. During the shipyard years, he met many of his current close friends. After leaving the shipyards, he took early retirement and moved to
Rancho Mirage, CA where he started his own successful appraisal business.
Greg cherished family and friends. He had many, many friends from High School, the 70s Christian groups, the shipyards and the real estate community. The only thing more important than family and friends was living his life for Jesus Christ. He was a strong believer in Christ and wanted others to know the Love, Healing and Hope of God.
Shew, O Lord, thy ways to me, and teach me thy paths. Direct me in thy truth, and teach me; for thou art God my Saviour; and on thee I have waited all the day long. Psalm 24:4-5
Greg lived and died on his own terms. There was no better life for him than to determine how, when and what he was going to do. He was strong in his convictions and stance but would apologize quickly or change his mind when presented with an honest and real alternative. He loved the outdoors and nature. He would spend hours watching, listening and admiring the many species of birds. He loved hiking, photography, golf and taking in God's beauty.
Greg's life in this world was dedicated to impacting one life at a time. This included his business dealings, his friendships and his everyday life. He felt his life's mission was to encourage others. With great empathy and compassion, he found people from all walks of life and social levels to whom he could show kindness, hope and pray with or for them. He was a consummate student and an elite professional in his field, always challenging himself to be the best.
As a naturally creative individual, Greg was a born poet which stole the heart of his wife, Katherine. Each letter was written in prose and poetry although he had never taken a writing class. Greg was a romantic, gentle-hearted person. He was quick to smile and say a kind word. His dry delivery of his observations about life where insightful and hilarious leaving everyone rolling with laughter. Greg's creativity extended to photography, home d?cor and problem solving inventions.
When asked about his happiest moments in life, he described three. Each was the birth of one of his three children, Brandon, Leah and Jon. He was proud of their accomplishments, their families they are raising and their successes as adults. He felt extremely blessed to be their father.
His wife, Katherine, and he had an interesting and adventurous life. Greg enjoyed their travels but always looked forward to returning home. He was the love of her life and will be missed as she moves forward in the next chapter they had planned together. There is peace and joy with his passing as Katherine watched as Greg saw Jesus and chose to go to Heaven. Although death was rapid and unexpected, Greg has returned to the place he always wished to return. At twenty-three, he was taken to heaven for a visit. Greg described it as a place of endless love, peace, joy and happiness that is not experienced in this life on earth.
Greg is survived by his wife, Katherine, his two sisters, Sandy (husband Barry), Sally (husband Alan), his three children, Brandon (wife Natasha), Leah (husband Matt), Jon (wife Erika), 10 grand children, 1 great grandchild and a large extended family. He is also survived by many, many amazing, close and dear friends from the many chapters of his life. He will be greatly missed but is with his parents and grandparents that preceded him to Heaven.
A memorial will be held next summer in Washington. Family and friends will be contacted with details in the Spring of 2024.

In thee. O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice. Bow down thy ear to me: make haste to deliver me. Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a house of refuge, to save me. For thou art my strength and my refuge; and for thy name's sake thou wilt lead me, and nourish me. Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.
Into thy hands I commend my spirit; thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth. Psalm 30:2-6
