HELEN BATIC Obituary
Peacefully, at Friendship Village in South Hills, where she made the long and arduous journey that is dementia, and was cared for by the wonderful people who are the staff and the very essence of Friendship Village, until finally, on Friday, June 27, 2014, she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Helen, age 90, of Robinson Twp., was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ethel McGinnis; and her siblings, Laurene Deichler, Bill, Charles and Jacque Smith. She leaves behind her loving children, Craig and Michael Batic, and Andrea (John) Hunt, who grieve the loss of this gentle soul. Friends received Monday 5-8 p.m. at the JOSEPH M. SOMMA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5405 Steubenville Pike, Moon Run, Robinson Twp., where a service will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, 15222.

I had the pleasure of being your Mom's hairdresser for many years. She was such a wonderful woman with a kind heart. I am so sorry for your loss. I know she meant so much to you. My mom was such a special and wonderful woman. I will never forget all the great times we had together sharing meals, going to see the fall leave or just watching TV. I miss her so much and will always love her. We could never repay or say thank you enough to the people at Friendship Village who took such loving care of her for over 5 1/2 years. God bless them and comfort them as they loved her very much.

I remember Helen when I used to take care of another client at Friendship Village. She was a sweet lady and her smile would light up the room. My sincere sympathy goes out to the Batic family.

Helen was such a sweet, gentle person. I will miss her dearly when I go to Friendship Village. Our sincere condolences to Andie, Craig, and Mike in your loss.
