Herbert Leonard of Calgary passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Herb was born on February 14, 1925 to Marchmont and Lenore Leonard. The family moved to Edmonton in the late 1920's. Herb served with the RCAF from October, 1943 until September, 1946. He was employed by the Department of Highways for thirty-three years, from 1947 to March 1, 1980. Herb and Adel were married in 1949. Herb's position as a highway Engineer with Alberta Transportation took Herb and Adel to many locations throughout their married life, some of which included Edmonton, Bonnyville, Bashaw, Breton, Winfield, Medicine Hat and finally to Calgary where he has resided for the past forty-seven years. They enjoyed many years at their vacation home at Tall Timbers. Herb is survived by his nieces and nephews, Donna Devoldere (Lorne), Larry (Dolores) Devoldere, Jim (Marie) Devoldere, Wanda Wallace, Dennis (Carilyn) Wallace, Jenny Wallace, Julie (Terry) Lunn and Ward Wallace as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Adel, his beloved wife of sixty-four years, on October 11, 2013, his mother Lenore Leonard in 1993 and his sister Shirley Devoldere in 2010. A Family Graveside Service will be held at Queen's Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
