Hideo Fukuchi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2, 2023.
Hideo Fukuchi, a beloved member of the Fort Lee, NJ community, passed away on January 27, 2023, at the age of 64. He was born in Osaka, Japan to Akio and Sakae Fukuchi. Hideo had a deep love for New York City and spent much of his life exploring and sharing its wonders with friends and family. He was also a devoted fan of the New York Yankees.

Hideo worked as a limo driver in his later years, and would sometimes encounter famous Japanese celebrities. He loved sharing these stories, and his passengers always appreciated his vast knowledge of Japanese culture.

When he wasn't driving, Hideo loved spending time with family and friends, taking them on tours around the city he adored. He was an expert on all of the best places to visit. Rockefeller Center was his favorite holiday spot, and he loved seeing the joy on people's faces during the Christmas tree lighting.

In recent years, he and his daughters made an annual tradition of returning to his beloved hometown of Osaka, where he could reunite with his family and friends. Together they savored delicious food, sang Frank Sinatra's greatest hits at a karaoke bar, and revisited the same nostalgic places from his childhood. These annual trips created unforgettable memories that will always be a testament to his love for family and the bond they shared.

Hideo will always be remembered as a kind, generous, and adventurous spirit. His passing is deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his daughters, Keiko, Masako, and Yasuko, his former spouse Akemi, and his brothers Takashi and Hiroshi. A private memorial service in Osaka will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
