James Heckman Obituary

HECKMAN – James R., Jenner Township, entered Heaven on Nov. 20, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born on Aug. 18, 1937, in Johnstown, son of W. Bryan Sr. and Ida Mae (Stufft) Heckman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Cramer, and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Heckman. Survived by his loving wife of 36 years, the former Kathleen M. Gunderson-Thomas; daughter, Amanda Rose Heckman; brother, W. Bryan Jr., Windber; sister, H. Leola, wife of William L. Sabo, Johnstown; brother-in-law, William Cramer Sr., Moxham; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his dachshund, Pennee. Jim was a surveyor in the U.S. Army and a Bethlehem Steel retiree. Jim volunteered for 12 years as the North Star band truck driver and participated in the Save Our Sycamores campaign. Jim was an avid Jeep enthusiast and enjoyed working on vehicles with his daughter, Amanda. Jim will be remembered forever as a beloved gentle man. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be held at St. James Cemetery, Jenner Township, at the convenience of the family. The family requests people donate blood to the American Red Cross. In lieu of flowers, financial donations may be made to the family, 7064 Somerset Pike, Boswell, Pa. 15531. The family is being served by The Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.

Dear Kathy & Amanda,
You are both in our prayers. I know you will miss Jim very much. Cling fast to those good memories. We surely missed him driving the band truck over summer and fall.
