James Hinerman Obituary

James Willard Hinerman was born in Long Beach, CA to Laverne and Eldora (McNerney) Hinerman on April 15, l930. He grew up in South Gate Southern California, and attended South Gate High School and Fullerton Jr. College. Jim continued his education at the University of California Berkeley, and he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Etymology in 1952. He received his Masters Degree in Education from Arizona State University in 1958. During his years at Berkeley, he was an active member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and United State Naval Reserve. Jim received an honorable discharge from the Naval Reserve after nine years of service in l957. Jim's work life included field entomologist for California Spray (subsidiary of Standard Oil), biological science teacher at San Jose High School (30 years). Jim had a deep appreciation for the out of doors. Family activities included camping and fishing in the Pacific Northwest and duck hunting at Los Banos. Hobbies included model shipbuilding, taxidermy, gardening, and bridge. One of his model sailing ships is on display at the National Museum of Ship Models in Sadorus, IL.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jessie Kay; sister Jeanne; sons Bret, and Dale (Sue) and two grandchildren Alexander & Samuel.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at the Paradise United Methodist Church at 6722 Clark Rd., Paradise. Memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to Ducks Unlimited or Paradise Hospice in care of Newton-Bracewell Funeral Homes who handled the arrangements. View obituary at NBCFH.COM.
