PORTLAND - James Maurice Rosebush, 91, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Maine Medical Center, Portland. James was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Bancroft, son of William and Melvina (Caron) Rosebush. James grew up in McAdam, New Brunswick, and Brownville Junction. He graduated from Brownville Junction High School in 1938. In the early 1940s, James worked as a welder in the South Portland shipyards. He joined the Navy in 1942 and saw action in several battles in the South Pacific. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Portland, where he began working for Maine Central Railroad. In 1947 he married Margaret Cambridge and they moved to Brownville Junction, where he worked as a fireman on the Canadian Pacific Railroad. In 1957 James went to work for Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, and retired in 1985. James was an active member of numerous civic organizations and was past president of the American Legion. He was also chairman of the supervisory committee for Eastmill Federal Credit Union from 1969 to 1984. After his retirement from Great Northern Paper, he divided his time between his homes in Portland and Stuart, Fla., spending his summers at his camp on his beloved Ebeemee Pond in Maine. He enjoyed puttering around his workshop at his camp in Maine, was an avid reader, and took great pleasure in visiting family and friends. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by wife, Margaret (Cambridge) Rosebush; his brothers, Dennis, Paul, Theo, Willard, Louis, Bernard and Arthur; and his sisters, Olive and Madeline. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Craig Rosebush of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Dr. Mark Rosebush of Roundup, Mont.; five grandchildren, Michael Rosebush-Dicenzo, Andrea Rosebush-DiCenzo, Windy and her husband, Michael Catino, Carey and her husband, Will Doucette, and Sasha Rosebush; three great-grandchildren, Wiley Doucette, Seamus Doucette and Michael Catino; his brother, Lawrence, of Bangor; sister, Edith Alderman of Belchertown, Mass.; and his dear friend and companion, Marilyn Zwicker. Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius Church, 492 Ocean Ave., Portland. Interment will be immediately after at Evergreen Cemetery, Stevens Avenue, Portland. Our sincere sympathies in the loss of your father. I remember, at reunion time here in Brownville Jct., it was so nice to see all the Rosebush men. Our High School Alumni will never be the same again without all of them. Their presence really filled the room with laughter and friendship. Your Dad always made a point to say hi to everyone there.
In friendship and sympathy to you, Marty and Lorraine Fitzpatrick

Mark and Craig,
I will always be so grateful for all that your father did to
help my Mom and Dad in Florida when my father was so sick.
Maurice was always available and happy to drive the many
emergency trips to the hospital for my father, Harry, to the grocery store and Church for my mother Helen.
He was a very kind loving and generous Father in-law
and friend.
Thank You for sharing him with me and my Family,he really was very much appreciated and loved.
Maurice will be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers,as will
his Family.
With Sympathy and Love,
Mary Rosebush and Helen Kanikula
