James H. Semler PRINCETON JUNCTION James H. Semler, 80, of Princeton Junction, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019, surrounded by his family. Born in New Brunswick, Jim grew up in the Trenton area before residing in West Windsor. Jim was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was honorably discharged. He retired after 40 years from Princeton University as a member of the technical staff. Jim had a passion for auto racing, was builder/owner/driver of the No. 6 Semler Sprinter and a member of the United Racing Club. He was an avid American Civil War enthusiast, especially on the Battle of Gettysburg. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Ellen Semler; his son, David Layton; his grandchild, Kalen Fahey; and his sister, Ellen Campbell. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathryn Semler; his children, James, Diane, and Kimbra (Brian) Fahey; his daughter-in-law, Susan Layton; his grandchildren, James, Emma and Sarah Semler, Annaliese and Erik Layton and Julia Fahey; his brothers, Andrew and John Semler, and his many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 10 until 11 a.m., with a service following at the Saul Colonial Home (saulfuneralhomes.com), 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ 08690. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James' memory to the Gettysburg National Military Park by visiting In Memory Of at inmemof.org.
