Jane King Obituary
Jane is the daughter of Oliver and Mini King, and was born in Barre, Vermont, on June 24, 1928. Jane attended the University of Vermont in Burlington and graduated with a degree in mathematics and a minor in physics - fields chosen by few women at that time.
Jane started her career with General Electric in Schenectady, New York. She moved to Sun City, Arizona, in the early 60's to help design and implement an operating system for GE's mainframe computers. She continued with Honeywell when they purchased GE. Honeywell then became Honeywell-Bull, then Bull. Jane received the Charles A. Coffin Award from GE, which is the highest honor for outstanding merit in engineering. Jane also received the H.W. Sweatt Award from Honeywell which is the highest award for Engineers/Scientists. She was the first woman ever to receive the honor of becoming a Senior Engineering Fellow in 1985. Jane retired after a 40-year career with GE/Honeywell/Bull.
Jane loved to travel and, amazingly, visited every Continent. She had a deep passion for reading, theater, writing, music, art, painting and photography. She met many beautiful and extraordinary people throughout her lifetime and shared great adventures, stories and laughs with her dear friends. She accomplished everything on her bucket list and more. Jane was an incredible woman and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents; Oliver and Mini King, two brothers; Russell King and Keith King, one niece; Sheila King Brann, and one nephew; Charles King.
Jane is survived by three nieces; Pamela (Al) Baldini, Susan Henry, Caroline King, one nephew; Stephen (Sheri) King, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Special thanks to all of her friends, resident care providers and her hospice care team.
A celebration of life for Jane is being planned and will be held at a later date.

I was a young engineer at GE Phoenix and I have very fond memories of Miss Jane. Besides being smart and very hard working, she was kind and humble and was an inspiration to me to be as good as I could be.
