It is with profound sadness that the family of Jeffrey Conrad Opdahl announce his sudden passing on Sunday, August 24, 2014 in Calgary, AB. Jeff was born to parents, Conrad and Joyce Opdahl, 53 years ago in North Surrey, BC. The family moved to Hanley, SK in July of 1961. Con's work in the oil patch took the family to many destinations including Hanley, Colonsay, Regina, Calgary, Algeria, Casper, Wyoming, Scotland, and Saskatoon. This impacted Jeff's own career choice as he studied to become a geologist and moved to Calgary where he lived until his passing. Jeff loved his children and was a wonderful, devoted father. His life revolved around Michael and Anna-Karina. He was a kind and caring person, yet full of mischief and humour. Family and friends were very important to him. Jeff was involved with body building and with that maintained a very health conscious lifestyle involving weight lifting, biking, hiking, and rollerblading. Jeff is survived by his children, Michael and Anna- Karina and their mother, Cynthya Bringas- Soriano. He is also survived by his parents, Conrad and Joyce Opdahl; sisters, Donna (Dave) Hassell and Kim (Phil) Johnson; brother, Doug (Colleen) Opdahl; nieces and nephews, Rob (Brenda) Samletzki, Christie (Scott) Connell, Nathan Hassell, Jenna and Rilla Johnson, Luke Opdahl, Emma and Hokken Johnson; mother-in-law, Livia Manjarrez; great-nephew and nieces, Malcolm and Violet Connell and Drew Samletzki and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 812 Preston Avenue, Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of memorials, a trust account will be set up for the benefit of Jeff's children. Cheques can be made out to "Donna Hassell," who is setting up the trust fund. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca. We would like to extend our sincerest condolences and love to Jeffs family, especially Michael and Anna, Jeffs parents and Cynthia. We used to carpool with the kids as neighbors and had known each other this way. Jeff was like an uncle to AnneMarie and was always with us during family gatherings. We will dearly miss him. We were away during his passing . Michael, Anna and Cynthia please know we are always here for you.

Jeff I finally had time to grieve today. I thought about how many great qualities you have and it became so clear why I will miss you so much. This will be tough to swallow for a very long time. Jeff, I miss you. We drifted apart after college but you were always a friend and the times we had together were special. I can still hear your voice and how you loved to laugh. Yes you needed to be right about everything but that's why I loved you. We are all so sad at your passing.

Jeff was a special person to all who knew him for many reasons. He was a man of faith; a man of integrity and a man who loved and treasured his family. I will aways remember his kind words when my Mum passed away on Christmas Eve a couple of years ago. My sympathies to you all.
