JEFFREY G. ROBINSON Sr.

BUCKSPORT - Jeffrey G. Robinson Sr., 70, died July 16, 2012, surrounded by his loving family in Bangor. Jeff was a caring husband, father, granddad and friend that lost his brief battle to lung cancer. He was born June 7, 1942, in Bucksport, son of Norman Robinson and Barbara Harper (Powers). Jeff was married to the love of his life, soul mate and "best friend," the former Nancy Turner for 52 years. He attended Bucksport schools graduating in 1960 from Bucksport High School. He worked several years at Braun's and at Western Auto. Jeff retired after 32 years with Bucksport Water Co. - Aqua Maine, working with Winnie, Clyde, Dave and many others. Jeff volunteered with many organizations and groups, including Bucksport Booster Club during the 1960s holding several offices, and 20 years with Bucksport Area Youth Little League coaching, officiating, and performing clerical duties and grounds keeping. Jeff served 10 years on the supervisory committee of Seaboard Federal Credit Union and served a three-year term on the executive committee of Maine Municipal Association. Jeff was also on the board of directors since 1994 of Maine Rural Water Association, and Atlantic States - CT & RI Rural Water Association. Jeff was proud to have served on Bucksport Fire Department for 20 years, holding offices of fire lieutenant and club treasurer. Also while at the fire department, he served on the Bucksport ambulance service for 10 years. Jeff always considered it an honor to serve on Bucksport Town Council for 21 years, and was especially proud to be elected chairman-mayor, by his peers for nine terms. Jeff enjoyed the early morning coffee sessions with the "boys" at "Micky D's." He also enjoyed playing golf, which he referred to as "taking his clubs for a walk," with the guys. Jeff was a people person; he had a very unique sense of humor and always had a joke or a story to tell. He cherished his time with family and friends, enjoying all the trips to Hawaii with his dear friends and family. He was very kind and loving man who loved his family and community, he will be greatly missed. Jeff is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Jeff Jr. and wife, Laurie, and their children, Christie and Lindsay; son, Randy and wife, Cheryl, and their children, Paul and Sarah; mother, Eleanor Robinson; sister, Marlene and husband, Stafford Lozier; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Jo-Ann Turner; sister and brother-in-law, Roxann and Tom Clapper; special nephew and niece, Justin Clapper, and Nicole Gillway and husband, James; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A thank you to our special friend, Vickie DuLong. Jeff was predeceased by his mother in 1994, father in 2011; and in-laws, William and Lyndall Turner. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Bucksport Performing Arts Center, Bucksport Middle School, 100 Miles Lane, Bucksport.
