Joan Brinegar Brady, 84, of Columbia, Md., went home to the angels on Jan. 2, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born in Charleroi to the late Frank and Blanche Brinegar. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward "Ebby" Brady; beloved granddaughter, Ashley Leavitt, of California, Pa.; sister, Diane Monack of Monessen; and nephew Patrick Duda of Monessen. She is survived by daughters, Lynn A. Brady of Monessen, and Leslie A. Crockett and husband, Brian, of Columbia, Md.; granddaughters, Brandy Smith of Columbia, Md., and Alodie Matyas of Columbia, Md.; great-grandchildren, Gage and Rowdy Leavitt of Pennsylvania, Jake, Troy, Savanah, Jurnie and her newest great-grandson, Josiah, all residing in Maryland; a brother, Larry Brinegar and Maryann of Florida. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Joan was an accountant by trade but was a master chef, and left her daughters her legacy of her love of cooking in her own cookbook, which she wrote. She will always be remembered for her undying love and commitment to her family and friends and her gentle soul. A private service will be held at WITZKE FUNERAL HOME in Ellicott City, Md.. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at http://www.alz.org.
