RockyMount <\!m> Joe William Buddy Fowler, 78, died on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004. He was born on July 8, 1926, son of the late Charlie Linwood Fowler Sr. and Pearl Ann Hutchinson Fowler. Buddy was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church. He was a devoted Christian, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and during the Korean conflict. Buddy worked 40 years at CSX Railroad, where he retired as a Trainmaster. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Lawhon and two brothers, Charlie L. Fowler Jr. and Ocie O. Fowler.
He leaves, to cherish his memory, his loving and extremely devoted wife of 58 years, Isabelle F. Fowler of the home; two sons, Ike Fowler and wife Leigh of Nashville, David Fowler and wife Paulette of Florence; one daughter, Anne F. Watkins and husband Joe of Florence; one sister, Patsy Lynch and husband Sammie of Florence; five grandchildren, Brooke Watkins of Florence, Hope Bailey and husband Phil of Florence, Jody Fowler of Florence, Erin Watkins of Mount Pleasant and Brian Fowler of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Dalton Bailey and Lauren Marie Bailey.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at Nashville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve McElroy officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the services in the fellowship hall and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Nashville Untied Methodist Church Building Fund at 209 E. Washington St., Nashville, NC 27856.
Arrangements are entrusted to Bowling Funeral Home & Crematory, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
