Austin, John Robert - 58, of Irvine, beloved son and brother passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, February 8, 2018, after a brief illness.
He was a loving son, brother and friend, UCLA graduate and die-hard Bruins fan, a Land Use Planner by profession due to his passion for environmental causes, but an avid fisherman at heart. He loved all animals and traveled extensively in the US and Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alla Austin and John William Austin of Irvine and an infant sister Diana. John is survived by his sister Margaret Austin and her wife Brenda Gaines of Ohio, his sister Joanne Lorton of Irvine, and his sister Barbara Austin and her wife Kathy Alexander of Santa Ana.
John was involved with different activities at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church. He helped feed the homeless at St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Church, he participated with the annual festival and he was always willing to assist wherever needed. John appreciated the support from Father Steven Tsichlis, Father Theofanis Degaitas and others at the church.
Trisagion to be held Wednesday, February 14th at 7:00pm and the funeral service to be held February 15th at 10:30am. Both will be at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church located at 4949 Alton Parkway, Irvine, CA. Burial ceremony to be held immediately following the funeral service at El Toro Memorial Park located at 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, CA.
