John B. Brooks, 51, of Fishersville, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born in Abingdon, VA, February 18, 1966, son of Naomi Brooks-Maddox of Sherando and the late K. Lyle Brooks.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Fern Y. Brooks; two daughters, Elizabeth (Cody) Matheny of Stuarts Draft and Nicole Brooks of the home and her special friend, Dakota Puckett; one grandson, C. J.; two sisters, Tammy (Sid) Weaver of Stuarts Draft and Tanya (Ernie) Bealor of Sherando; a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Also left to cherish his memory, is his bear hunting family and his Augusta Health work family.

The family wishes to offer special thanks to the Intensive Care Units at Augusta Health and the University of Virginia Hospitals for the great care given in his final days

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Mountain View Mennonite Church, 55 Love Road, Lyndhurst, VA 22952, conducted by Pastor Earl Monroe. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday, from 10 AM until the hour of the service at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the Mountain View Mennonite Campground Fund in care of the church.
