John W. Stokes II obituary, Southport, CT

In memory of

John W. Stokes II

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

April 4, 2021

I met John and Alloe during the summer of 1973. I was the summer cook for Mrs. Walter Stokes in Saunderstown, RI. John taught me to play tennis and insisted on which racket (a Davis) and real gut strings I should purchase. I still play that that racket. I recently found pictures of their wonderful family and was surprised to find his obituary on line. My sincere condolences to Alloe, Kemberly, Walter and Anne. I will always cherish the memories of that summer. Sheila Ann Moore

Dear Alloe,

I was doing an inspection with Jim Entwistle yesterday who told me the sad news of John's death. You and he have been beacons of charity for the thirty years I've known you and know that the world will be less kind without him. My sympathy goes to you and your family.

Dear Alloe, Walter, Ellery and Kemble,

John was a class act, a gentleman's gentleman. Regret very much to have not visited with him the past year or so --

Will always remember John for the way he looked at the Lady of his life and spoke about his children. He was so proud of all of you.
Will never forget the day John called me to join the Board of the Bridgeport Cabaret -- no one could say "no" to John when he believed in a cause.

Thinking of you with Much Affection, Nicole & Jeff
