Joseph Richard Pirro, Sr.

Beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, took his place in Heaven on April 26, 2010. Joe, affectionately called "Papa" by those who knew and loved him was born March 18, 1924 in Solvay, New York. He married Terry Colley and celebrated 62 wonderful years together on March 11, 2006. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, three brothers, four sisters, and granddaughter Kelly Marie Romano.

Joe enlisted in the US Army at age 19 and served in WWII including the Battle of the Bulge. His love and compassion for others was evident through his community involvement with the Mattydale Fire Department, VFW and American Legion. He was also involved with his church, St. Margaret's of Mattydale, NY through the Knights of Columbus and the Men's Club. Joe was active with the Republican Party of Onondaga County. He spent many years working in the furniture industry, ranging from operating his own store to representing several furniture manufacturers throughout the state of New York.

Joe loved to travel, play golf and attend the sporting events and activities of his family. He is survived by his five children, K. Diane Wright of Marshall, TX, Sandra M. Romano of Syracuse, NY, Pamela A. Santas (Dave) of Liverpool, NY, Joan M. Wheeler (Greg) of Plano, TX, and Joseph Pirro Jr. (Carleen) of Plano, TX as well as 29 grandchildren and 21 great-grand children.

Papa,
“Chrisafer,” "The Doc" and the girls miss you terribly, but we know you’re back in the only place you ever wanted to be – by Mema’s side.

Diane, Sandy,Pam, Joan, & Joey, We are so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. We spend 4-5 months in the Florida Keys, and fortunately we arrived back here in Cazenovia last week to read it in the Post standard. We have many dear memories of Colony Park and frequently talk about them with our kids and 8 grandkids. When you are in town, give us a call, we are in the phone book.
