Dr McNary welcomed me to LA. She helped me navigate a tumultuous first few years in the city with grace, kindness and unwavering support. She cared deeply and carefully for her patients. I admired how she was able to be active - biking to work in the mornings - connected - building community amongst other therapists and the UCLA students - and supportive - as she cared for her family. The tumultuous years through which she supported helped me grow and build the life I have today. I will be forever grateful to her and try to pay her grace and kindness forward.

I was Dr. McNary´s patient for 9 years and she helped me and so many others immeasurably. I spoke to her briefly by phone only a few weeks before she passed away and my next appointment would have been only 5 days after. I cannot imagine the grief her family, colleagues and other loved ones are feeling but I hope it brings them some small comfort to know that she made such a massive impact on so many people in her life, even though it ended far too soon. I left some flowers and friendship bracelets on Dr. McNary's grave recently, because we had talked about what a moving experience it was to attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. I will never forget her.

I just heard from one of Dr. McNary´s colleagues of her passing. Dr. McNary was one of the very first clinicians to steer me in the right direction in getting treatment for my disorder. I´m thankful for the help I received from her.

I had a brief exchange with Dr. McNary last November. We were both pleasantly surprised to be reunited, if only for a simple interaction. It was very close to Thanksgiving, probably the day before. I hope my memory is correct that I told her how thankful I am for her. I am so thankful for her. I am so sorry to hear that she has left us. God Speed Dr. Josephine McNary. I hope you know how many people you helped.
