Joy Alexander

Joy Elaine Alexander, 80, of Scottsdale AZ, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center.

She was born on October 24, 1942 in Peoria IL to the late Herbert and Viola (Widmer) Kauffman. She was also preceded in death by son, Scott Cordell. Surviving are partner, George Sawko of Mesa AZ, brother, Larry (Marilyn) Kauffman of Dunlap IL; sisters, Janet (Fritz) Gerth of Memphis MO and Leanne (Dean) Pace of Krumm TX; sons, Brian (Kristin) Strutz of Tampa FL and Montgomery (Sheryl) Cordell of Waunakee WI; and four grandsons.

Joy grew up in Illinois and lived in Arizona for over 25 years. Prior to moving here, she lived in Florida and several other states as well as Guam.

Joy always loved to learn. She attended Midstate College of Commerce in Peoria IL and attended college in Florida and Arizona. Joy's continuous learning led to several diverse careers, including a licensed insurance agent, which she thrived and exceled at. She was also a writer of novels, short stories, and poems throughout her life. Joy recently fulfilled her lifelong dream and published a mystery novel using the author alias JK Alexander.

Joy enjoyed traveling, whether it be trips across the country with George or trips to see her family. She also had the opportunity to travel the world and experience different cultures. Her hobbies included walking, watching PBS dramas, playing cards, and being active in her community, building strong friendships. She was an avid reader of mysteries and history. She also appreciated art and collected many paintings and works by local artists which she enjoyed displaying in her home.

Joy attended a presbyterian church in Scottsdale AZ. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and her family. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren.

Joy had a deep love for animals her entire life and she requested memorials be made to an animal charity of your choice. There was a small private celebration in remembrance of Joy.
