Julia Asher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 11 to Oct. 15, 2023.
Julia Roberts Asher was a loving wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, and friend. She died in her home after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her husband and daughters on October 6, 2023, at age 61. She was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on April 25, 1962, to Maria Teresa Roberts and Edward J. Roberts.

Julie met the love of her life, Joey Asher, in 1982 in Boerne, Texas. In true Julie and Joey fashion, they got engaged 11 days after meeting and married two months later on July 30, 1982. Julie and Joey spent nearly every day together as they started and sold numerous successful businesses throughout their 41-year marriage. They were a fixture in the New Braunfels business community for 20+ years as owner/operator of the highly successful New Braunfels restaurant TJ's Burger and More. They owned restaurants, built and renovated homes, and built and operated a wedding event center from the ground up. After many years of hard work, they were fortunate to retire at age 55.

Soon into their marriage, Julie and Joey were thrilled to start a family. They had their three daughters, Amber, April, and Kelsie. The girls meant the world to them, and Julie loved them with all her heart and soul. The girls talked to their Mama on the phone or in person almost every single day of their lives, up until her passing. It's impossible to describe how much the girls will miss being able to celebrate their best life moments with Mama, lean on her during the hardest times of life, and everything in between. Julie was their rock, and her daughters will deeply miss their Mama.

Julie's greatest blessings were the children who called her Nana. She treasured her time with her grandbabies, who affectionately referred to Nana's house as the "freedom house" because there were few to no rules. The grandbabies loved to swim, make snow cones, play games, shoot BB guns, watch movies, and cook with Nana. The grandbabies never wanted to leave!

Julie had a special love and light that she spread to everyone she met, especially her family. She loved spending time with her beloved husband, family, and friends. She especially loved spoiling her grandbabies and loving on her dog, Gypsy. Julie was extremely creative and could turn anything into a treasure. She had a free spirit and was always ready for an adventure. Julie had an uncanny ability to brighten anyone's day with an encouraging word. Julie will always be remembered for her great sense of humor. Even during her long-fought battle with cancer, Julie never missed an opportunity to crack a joke and make others laugh. Her sense of humor persisted to the very end.

Julie was preceded in death by her Father-Edward Roberts, Sister-Shauna Roberts, Father-in-Law- Joe Asher, Mother-in-Law-Sandra Bouse Asher, Grandmother-Florence Bouse, and Grandfather-George Bouse.
