Julia "Judy" (nee:Furjes) Oravec
SHEFFIELD LAKE - Julia "Judy" (nee:Furjes) Oravec, age 89, a resident of Sheffield Lake for 68 years, passed away on Friday evening, Sept. 5, 2014, at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Julia was born on March 1, 1925, in Cleveland.
Julia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved spending time with all of her family at family get-togethers. She enjoyed fishing, gambling trips, campfires, music and bowling to the age of 79. She was also an avid Cleveland sports fan. She was a member of VFW Post 451, Moose Lodge 552 and Amvets Post 55.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Ken) Sexton, Cathy (Tim-deceased) Smith, Diane (Bob) Ulichney, Carrie (David) Falatic; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Louis Furjes; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Oravec, in 1992; her mother, Julia Kaczmak; father, Steve Furjes; step-dad, Jack Kaczmak; brothers, Steve and Joseph Furjes; and sons-in-law, James Kelly and Timothy Smith.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at the funeral home, Pastor Lisa Morrison, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
