Katherine M. "Katie" spilker

Katherine M. "Katie" Spilker, 90, of 1811 S. 24th, Apt. RR, died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 22, 2012) in Sunset Home.

She was born May 25, 1922, in Quincy, a daughter of Stephen J. and Theresa Schnetzler Vahlkamp. She married Harold Spilker on Aug. 13, 1941, in St. Louis. He survives.

Katie worked at Pierson's in Quincy as an inspector. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She went to Las Vegas 17 times. She also greatly enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Katie loved to travel.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Rodney) Keck of Quincy; a son, William (Brenda) Spilker of Liberty; four grandchildren, Paul (Stephanie) Cress of Quincy, Steve (Judy) Spilker of Camp Point, Laurie (Mark) Morrison of Burton, and Mark (Stephanie) Cress of Coatsburg; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Vahlkamp of Cape Coral, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Frank, Steve, Raymond, Lawrence and Arthur Vahlkamp; and three sisters, Helen Nelson, Marie Brinks and Clara Fries.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in Quincy Memorial Park. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

VISITATION: There will be no visitation.
