What Dr. Masubuchi has done for the Japanese Language School and for the Japanese community in the Greater Boston area is something everlasting. His nurturing efforts and tireless leadership
have created an educational cornerstone which will continue to generate future Japanese/America students well versed in the Japanese language and culture, allowing them to bridge not only the United States and Japan, but the world. He will be greatly missed.

A former student, I entered the Japanese School of Greater Boston in its infancy and was a direct beneficiary of Dr. Masubuchi's tireless efforts to establish a place of culture and study for Japanese students in Boston. My own children now attend the same school decades later, participating in the enduring legacy left behind by Dr. Masubuchi. My deepest condolences to his family and may peace be with you.

As one of his students at MIT (1974~1978), I feel deep sorrow for the loss of our beloved Professor Masubuchi. He was not only my Ph.D. adviser, Professor Masubuchi gave away my wife, Ginny, at our wedding at the MIT Chapel on January 17, 1976. He has been my mentor for my teaching career at the Ohio State University. I was fortunately having the opportunity to visit him having lunch with him in June 2014. I sent him an email asking for the same opportunity last February this year, but did not get answer. Professor Masubuchi will live in our heart forever. Chon Liang and Ginny Tsai
