Larry Culp Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 15 to Aug. 22, 2014.
Larry Culp loved life, people and tractors. He never met a stranger or forgot a face. Larry was a family man who loved his wife of 36 years with all of his heart. He would often tell people, smiling with pride, about his beautiful wife, Anna, and how he looked forward to taking her to France this summer. Or, he'd tell you about his oldest daughter, Hannah, and his three wonderful grandchildren; his middle daughter, Jenna, in medical school; or his youngest, Emily, who was too afraid to spend the night with friends as a child, but recently bought a home in France with her husband. He was proud to be married to Anna, and he was proud of their three daughters.
Larry loved antique tractors and had amassed quite a collection. He frequently traveled to shows around the country to show off his restored antiques and swap stories with friends who shared his passion. Larry most recently traveled to Huron, South Dakota, with his grandson, Jackson, to pass on his love of antique farm equipment at the 25th National Red Power Roundup.
Larry worked for 31 years for The Andersons, Inc. (formerly Douglass Fertilizer & Chemical), most recently as the industrial products manager. He was so loved by his customers that many became fast and true friends outside of work. He, along with other co-employees, was recently awarded a U.S. patent for their development of nutrient-enhanced bio-solid pellets.
Larry was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Jude; and father, Barney Culp Jr.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 36 years, Anna Smith Culp; daughters, Hannah Long (son-in-law, Brian), Jenna Culp, Emily Gusse (son-in-law, Axel); and grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jackson and Addison. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Ellen Culp, Statesboro/Grimshaw, Ga.; brothers, Barney Culp, Eddie Culp (Kay), Jerry Culp (Wanda), Kerry Culp (Paula Jones); sisters, Candy Bernabe (Miguel), Cindy Hulsey (Charlie), Marie Hunnicutt, Mary Anne Culp, and Ginger Ellison (Randall); as well as over 20 nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the Culp Family Cemetery, 814 Grimshaw Road, Statesboro, Ga. with the Rev. J.D. Turner officiating.
Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends at a "Celebration of Life Reception" at the home of Larry's mother, Mary Culp. Everyone is invited to attend.
Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.
Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
