Laurel Jeanne Walker

Laurel Jeanne Walker was born in Lewistown to Bonny Jean (Hill) and Norman Walker on September 4, 1947. She was joined five minutes later by her identical twin, Leslie Joanne. Laurel passed away on June 18, 2025.

Laurel and Leslie graduated from Moccasin High School, then graduated from Western Montana College, with degrees in Education.

She taught at Bridger, Opheim, Inverness, Hingham, and Blue Sky (Rudyard). She was a charter member of the Blue Sky teaching staff, and retired in 2005, relocating to Billings in 2021. Laurel coached speech and drama during her tenure at Blue Sky. She was honored as the Montana Speech Coach in 2005 and then inducted into the Montana Forensics Educators Association Hall of Fame in 2017.

Always active in bowling, Laurel served as president for both the Montana Women's Bowling Association and the Montana United States Bowling Congress. Laurel was a member of the United Methodist Church and Rudyard Historical Society.

Laurel was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Jean Walker; twin sister, Leslie Walker; and great-niece, Teslyn Eyer.

Laurel is survived by her sisters, Becky and John Christensen, and Janet and Frank Mann of Billings. Her perfect nieces and nephews include Seisin (Christensen) and Craig Eyer, Collin, of Missoula; Jace and Nicole Christensen, Ainsley, and Rory of Helena; Christopher and Kimberly Mann, Ryleigh, Emilia, and Maezie of Omaha, NE; Dr. Kelsey Mann and Joshua Carl, Effie of Billings.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, 3:00 p.m. at the Utica Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Rudyard Historical Society, PO Box 44, Rudyard, MT, 59540, Brent Eley Foundation (Brent's Place), 11980 E 16th St, Aurora, CO, 80010, or a charity of your choice.
