Lawrence "R" Lutz, also known as "Larry" was born Feb. 6, 1933 in Santa Ana, CA. son of Howard Arthur Lutz and Helen Francis Smiley, deceased, passed away December 2, 2013 in his home of natural causes at the age of 80. Larry's early years were spent growing up on a 20 acre ranch in Anaheim, and the family vacationed by camping in the High Sierra's and at Lake Havasu. Larry graduated from Anaheim High School, and furthered his education by attended Fullerton College, Brigham Young University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Redlands. Larry also served in the Military Reserves. While attending school Larry met his lifelong sweetheart, and future wife, Marilyn Lewis at a dance. They were married June 26, 1954 in Fullerton, California. Larry joined the Anaheim Fire Department in 1956 where he served for 30 years, retiring as a Captain in 1986 for the City of Anaheim. Following his Fireman retirement, Larry and Marilyn moved to Gardnerville, Nevada where Larry was called to serve as a Bishop in the LDS church.

Larry and Marilyn loved fast cars, and actively raced cars during the 60's and were members of Porsche Owners Club, and the Sports Car Club of America where Larry served as a board member. Their love of cars led to buying motorcycles for the entire family. Racing was such a natural outlet, soon the entire family was involved in racing Motorcycles. Larry was an avid collector of model cars, Boated on Lake Topaz and enjoyed watching F1 racing every week. Larry was very proud of his family, and loved family get-togethers'. Larry was always quick to help others and served the community as part of the Disaster Response Team during the Carson River Flood. Larry's sense of humor and quick wit along with a sincere directness made him beloved by those whose lives he touched.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marilyn Lewis; their four children, Lawrence Randall Lutz and wife Jill Terry and their children, Loralyn Jost and her husband Bob Jost and their children, Debra Lorene Matthews and her husband Brian Matthews and their children, Steven Andrew Lutz and his wife Lori Francis and their children; Larry and Marilyn's 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and his sister, Linda Grace Lutz of Irvine, California. Services will be held at the LDS Church at Job's Peak ward located at 891 Mahogany in Minden, Nevada on Tuesday December 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. and in California at the LDS Chapel located at 5550 Ohio Street, Yorba Linda, CA at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association https://secure.mdausa.org and click on donation form or mail to: Muscular Dystrophy Association National Headquarters, 3300 East Sunrise Dr, Tucson, AZ 85718, or call 520-529-2000. Larry's remains will be interred at Fairhaven Memorial in Santa Ana, California.
